Holiday with trouble = Troliday :)

I was craving for the trip to Romania we would do for Winter holidays, when we had to do a totally unexpected one week with three days extension trip to out country for hubby's stuff.
Luckily I just got into winter vacation (having a seasonal job) so I could join him.
The journey was very nice, I got to drive a lot, so I had no time to get bored. Did I ever mention how much I love to drive on the highway??? While having sunny, warm days here, back in Germany fall the first snow...eeek!!!
As used for us things got complicated and we had to stay 3 days longer than planned. That's why this was more like a TROLIDAY (TRoubles in hOLIDAY) :)
So here comes a Photo Streaming from our little troliday in Romania.

        Budapest by car
        foggy early morning sun
        more Budapest
GPS intentionally getting us lost on the way
hubby happy to arrive in Cluj, our first destination

           Enjoying the warm sun here...

  ...and the tasty Noceta cake

       big apple selling
       yum sesame pretzels
       missed those "Cheasla" grapes
the market was full of crysantemes

YEEEY for getting to our tiny bee farm
Self picked apples are so tasty!
       cute gum boots

Sweet tomatos from hubby's mommy's garden

DElicious roasted chestnuts sold on streets by gipsies

  Come to caaaaaaabbaaaaaage!!!

And that was it. Our little holiday full of stuff to do, melancholic shopping, many errands and even if I really enjoyed it I also miss our cozy little nest.
Status now: excited for the back journay starting now...

I ♡ Romania #2

Hi dears,

The second beauty you definitely must know about my country is The Bran Castle.

Situated in Transylvania, near Bran and 30 km away from Brașov,  the castle built in the 14th century is a national monument and landmark in Romania.

Commonly known as Dracula's Castle, although it seems like Count Dracula never lived here, the castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. At the bottom of the hill there are cozy barns where romanian peasants exhibit and sell self made souvenirs.

Famous artists and directors have chosen The Bran Castle as their set. Bram Stoker was inspired by it for his "Dracula", "Blood Rayne" was also filmed here, as many romanian films. Even Natalia Oreiro, the uruguayan singer and actress visited the castle and filmed her video for Como te olvido.

So if you are touring through Romania, don't miss this spot!
If you wanna be part of a really spooky Halloween party, Count Dracula invites you to a scary night tour. This year, the party was hold on 27. October, but stay tuned for next years event!

I hope you all have a great week and enjoy my little Romanian Tour I give you on Monday.

{Recipe} Vanilla Pear Muffins

Who doesn't like to eat muffins??? Me...
Who loves to bake muffins? ME!!!

Hehe, it's not like I do not like the taste of muffins, it's only that I am very demanding and don't like muffins as I don't like any cake if it is DRY...
With this recipe, I had no great expectations, but a lot of pears left and throwing them away is never an option. So I gived it a try, thinking that my co-workers will be happy with any treat of the kind and I'll be satisfied and relaxed while baking. The recipe belongs to Ama's kitchen.

INGREDIENTS

300 g flour
2 tbsp baking powder
some salt

2 eggs
2 tbsp vanilla essence
150 g sugar
100 g butter
50 g oil
200 g apple sauce

3 pears

Mix the dried ingredients. Melt the butter and add it to the moist ingredients. Mix softly, divide the dough to 12 muffins, place on them pear pieces and bake for 25-30 minutes. If you are a Muffin-Picky like me, just try them! That apple sauce makes them soft and moisty, and I even replaced the oil with more sauce.
They have a great vanilla flavour and go perfectly with the morning coffee!

Pentru cititorii mei romani, reteta ii apartine lui Ama in bucatarie :)

Stress less!!!

Hi, darlings!

Wish it would be that easy to leave stress behind and move on!
I am totally living in/with stress. We wake up together, get in panic for beeing always late, it keeps me away from any bite of food, comes with me to work, shop, do my daily stuff and never leaves me alone. What a reliable "friend" right? WRONG!!!

I wish I could just ignore it. But sometimes, when your health starts to creak, it's just not funny anymore. I tried not to let myself be swallowed in by problems, but stress smoothly sneaks in.

On top of that I totally help him! Pff...
I give myself such an unrealistic amounte of tasks and my own failures freak me out!
For example, Fridays are always busy. So Fridays I wake up at 5-6!!! to bake something for Saturday. Sometimes I do it and I'm happy. But there are times when I have such a long to-do list that baking isn't possible anymore. Big deal? NO! Am I frustrated   and feel ineffective? OH, YES!!!
The result????? :| :( :'( :*###

That's how I pressure and torture myself!
That's when "buhuhu, I haven't blogged all week, buhuhu" also comes up. Of, course it comes! But working in a job you get to hate, 50 hours a week does not leave you many options...

SO NOW I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PERSONAL BATTLE WITH STRESS!!!
When the war is over, I'll let you know :)

In the mean time, some Stress less ideas and my little happy-making-things of this week.

Monday was a very special day. 8th October is the anniversary day of our wedding, six years ago. That's why I tried&failed some baking again. But in the end I repaired that messy cake and had a sweet lil' chocolate cake for our anniversary. Hubby and I went out to dinner and spent our special evening lovely together!

Salty Cheesy Sticks

If I had to choose between sweet or salty, I definitely have more salty cravings. Sweet is good too, but when it comes to snacks, fingerfoods &co. I love selfmade crackers and stuff like that. When I discovered this recipe on Just love cookin' I  instantly, automatically went to my kitchen to look for the ingredients.
All I can say is that I made them 3x!!! that week! :)

Just love cookin' by Ana Maria Ciolacu is a food blog that makes you *drool*...the pictures are amazing and I trust her at every recipe, they're just perfect. You can't do anything wrong!

Hope you'll just try the salty sticks!!!

INGREDIENTS:

500 g flour
15 g of yeast (I used 1 pck of dried yeast)
200 g butter
4 TBSP of sour cream
1 egg
50 ml milk
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt

FOR THE TOPPING:

1 egg
1 TBSP milk
some paprika
cheese (cheddar, parmiggiano,...)
chilli chips (if you like it spicy)
sesame, poppy, caraway..

How I use dried yeast the easiest way is to put all the ingredients in the food processor, until the dough forms into a ball. Remove, wrap in plastic and let it chill in the fridge between 3-24 hours. If you can't wait that long, put it at least 30 min in the refrigerator.

- Roll the dough out to 1 cm thickness.
- pomade the dough using a brush with the egg+milk+paprika
  mixture

- then put so much grated cheese you want on them
(I love the taste of cheddar on this sticks, but often I grate
any kind of cheese I have left in the fridge.)
- use a pizza cutter to cut the sticks
- transfer them to a parchment-lined cookie sheet
- bake them for about 20 minutes in the preheated oven at 200 ° C.
- enjoooooy them!!!
